Lana Del Rey has downplayed claims that actor James Franco will publish a complete book about her.

Franco is assumed to have discussing the singer alongside award-winning writer David Shields. It was previously reported that Flip-Side: Real And Imaginary Conversations With Lana Del Rey could well be released in March 2016.

The singer, however, has refuted these reports. She told Zane Lowe on his Beats 1 radio show on Monday (August 10): “I guess I was surprised there was clearly a book. I haven’t seen it. And I don’t think it’s gonna appear. It’s a very nice idea – I think we definitely wanna maintain on it and also have time.”

Del Rey continued to imply that she genuinely does admire Franco’s work and “became friends” with him recently. “He’s someone I artistically look up to. That scenario is rare,” she said.

High By The Beach

Franco had previously penned a brief essay about Del Rey for V Magazine, writing: “When I watch her stuff, when I hear her stuff, I am reminded of all things I love about Los Angeles. I am sucked right into a long gallery of Los Angeles cult figurines, and cult people, up through the night like vampires and bikers.”

“The only difference between Lana and me is her haunting voice. That carries everything. The voice could be the central axle around that the spokes of all things else extend.”

Lana Del Rey shared her new single on Monday, titled ‘High By The Beach’. She told Zane Lowe in the track: “It’s a little like a hip-hop record. It started together with the chorus. I was driving with the beach a good deal. This was probably one on the last ones around the record… Even using the harmonies, it almost sounded monotone. But together with the beat, it’s got this trap influence.”

Del Rey’s forthcoming new album ‘Honeymoon’ follows on from 2014’s ‘Ultraviolence’ and it is expected to be released in September.

Meanwhile, Lana Del Rey will feature on The Weeknd’s new album, ‘Beauty Behind The Madness’.
